Rohan Khaunte, the Younger son of Late Mr. Ashok Khaunte, is a Graduate in Electronics Engineering.
Rohan was re-elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly in 2017 as an Independent candidate from Porvorim Constituency for the second time. He is the first independent candidate to be re-elected to the assembly.
The young MLA has taken the responsibility as Goa’s Revenue, IT and  Labour & Employment Minister. He is also the Vice-Chairman of the Investment Promotion Board (IPB).
As the first MLA of Porvorim constituency, Rohan has proved his worth by initiating many social activities for the welfare of his people. He has managed the expectations of his people with ease.
Due to the efforts by Rohan, the constituency which was facing water-shortage for a decade is now getting adequate water with the dream of 24×7 water soon to become a reality.
One of the biggest achievements in his first tenure as an MLA is that within a short span of time, he had managed to make his constituency “GARBAGE FREE” by initiating and implementing plans to perfection of ‘Door to Door’ Garbage collection, segregation and management of garbage in all the three panchayats in his constituency. This is at a time when the entire state of Goa is trying different ways out to get rid of garbage menace.
Rohan works tirelessly for the welfare of the people of his Constituency, attending to each and every grievance of his people and trying to solve them.
Rohan is also the chairman of Porvorim Yuva Welfare Trust. He has been actively involved in the formation of Self Help Groups for women empowerment.
He has organised various training camps which gives the participants a chance to earn money by initiating business from their houses and be self-sufficient.
He has been instrumental in forming  Farmer’s clubs in Porvorim with the main objective to revive and encourage farming.
He strongly believes in our Culture and Tradition and has formed approximately 16 Bhajani Mandals in his Constituency.
He has been ably supporting Tiatr and Goan Art & Folk Dance.
As a Businessman, Rohan is actively involved in the family Business under the banner of Group Shiv Samarth.
His Achievements, at a very young age, earned him the “YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR AWARD” bestowed by the then Governor of Goa, Late “ Shri Kidarnath Sahay”  in the Year 2003.
Rohan is actively involved in Social activities for over a decade and is also an active Sportsman. He has represented the State of Goa in Cricket and Basketball and has also represented his college in Table Tennis. His achievements in sports are proved by the fact that today he is the president of Goa Boxing Association and also the chairman of Sporting Clube de Porvorim. To add to his list of achievements, he has been elected to the coveted post of Vice – President Boxing India.
He has always taken up various issues of the Common man regarding his Constituency and issues of the State.
One of the biggest honour came in 2013 when Rohan was selected amongst the 16 Young MLAs, ticked from various states in India, for their exemplary contribution to Indian democracy and conferred the “Adarsh Yuva Award” by the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation, headed by former Chief Election Commissioner of India Shri T.N. Seshan. He has also been conferred the Lokmat ‘Goan of the Year’ 2017 in the category of young leaders of Goa!
The young MLA in his first 100 days as a Revenue Minister, has initiated the transfer of tenancy cases from civil courts to mamlatdar courts, bringing relief to many Goans. He also supports digitalisation of various government departments. Rohan has encouraged the use of technology to increase the efficiency of government services.
Rohan is a Politician, cut above the rest, who believes in Transparency, Accessibility and moreover, hard work which has won him several hearts all over so much so that he is today become a youth icon in the State.
