Hon’ble MLA – Shri. Rohan A. Khaunte, of Porvorim Constituency arranged a Scheduled Tribes Meet at Porvorim on 07/12/2012 for the S.T. Communities from Porvorim Constituency.
The main aim of holding this Meet was that, various schemes available to the S.T. Communities are not reaching to them and therefore they are deprived from getting the benefit of such schemes.
Shri. Bugde, The Director – Tribal Welfare Department gave his brief on setting up of Tribal Welfare Department. Shri.Raikar, Assistant narrated the various schemes available for ST Communities in details.
Shri. Khaunte in his speech said that there are approx. 80 – 100 ST communities living in his constituency, he said that he will personally see that proper benefit of schemes are availed by these people launched by the Govt.
On this occasion around 15 people were felicitated for their dedicated services for the community. Shri.Gupesh Naik – ZP, Shri.Anil Pednekar – Dy.Sarpanch, of Socorro Panchayat, Shri. Arthur Fernandes, Shri. Sandeep Salgaonkar – Panch members of Salvador-do-Mundo, and Shri. Gajanan Halarnkar, Smt.Deepali Vernekar, Shri.Swapnil Chodankar, Smt.Radhika Sawant, Smt. Safar Fadte – Panch members of Penha-de-Franca Panchayat were present for the function.
